Monday nights in Laguna are basically dead, except for the occasional show at the Sandpiper. If you have to go out on Monday, we suggest you try the Saloon. Almost every night of the week the Saloon is a fun, small place to party, with great drinks, no cover and it seems full with just a couple of dozen people. Ocean Avenue is Closed on Mondays, but if you want a great brew, just head over to Laguna Brewing Company for $2 happy hour pints from 3-7, as well as 50 cent tacos on Monday & Tuesday, not to mention half price appetizers every weekday during happy hour. Tuesday, much to the delight of Laguna partiers, is "the weeknight" to go out during Summer, as crowds line up downtown, mostly due to the overwhelming success of 80's night at the Ocean Avenue Brewing Co. This success has spilled out into the streets and by 11:00 most bars are packed in the Ocean Ave triangle. Now, however as Summer has come to an end, the crowds have been greatly reduced, and many of our friends have began to head back to the White House. We all eventually end up at the Sandpiper which seems untouched by seasons, (or at least we can't tell the difference) and continues to remain the official last call spot for all thirsty locals (Hi Chuck!). We always suggest walking, as you may be able to drop in the Saloon and find a six pack of lovely ladies, as pictured above! Wednesday, if you have to go out, we suggest you go out to dinner. We've scoured the surface in hopes of turning up some hidden jewel of a spot to go. Again, the Sandpiper or the Saloon is the best you will find. Thursday, oh delicious Thursday. You can see for yourself, Thursday seems to be my night in Laguna. Beautiful people, smaller crowds, live music at all the clubs with a stage. Try Hennesy's, Ocean Ave., Marine Room, The White House and of course end the night at the Sandpiper. Friday & Saturday seem to speak for themselves. Your job is to save enough energy to hunt down the "in place" to be. Bounce from club to club in search of the perfect melting pot. Again begin on Ocean Avenue, hitting the following bars. (Note: Most clubs will charge a cover so don't expect everyone to just let you in 'cause you're so rad). Work Ocean Avenue, The White House, and all clubs on the way. If you are a super cool L.A. stud, or goddess, you might even want to go to Club M. End the night by saying something obnoxious to some drunk hanging outside of the Piper, then sleep all day Sunday, wake up catch a movie, detox, and get ready to do it all again. |
