The Word on Harry Palmdale
Harry Palmdale is one of the most up and coming bands from Laguna Beach. They are literally packing clubs across town and are finally branching out to the rest of Orange County. I've had the pleasure of crashing out at the Reynard palace after a couple of shows, and in return, I am proud to bring you the official interview with the band.
TW: When did you form the band?
HP: We formed in February of 2001. John had just opened Solag Surf & Skate and there was some extra room & gear so we formed there.
TW: Where is your best draw?
HP: It is pretty much in Laguna Beach, but we have a good group of people that come to all our shows. The Piper, and we like Laguna Brewing Company. We're playing in Malibu in a couple of weeks, and all around South County pretty much.
TW: When are you going to release a CD?
HP: We released a CD a few months ago, but didn't make that many copies, but we're probably going to do a recording pretty soon. We have a bunch of new songs. The first CD was pretty much getting our feet wet. We've got a new bassist, Peter Freeman, he just started playing with us a week ago. He's young, he just turned 21, he rips. He plays some slap, so it adds a new dimension.
TW: What's the deal with your name?
HP: It comes from six months fighting about the name. Someone said Harry Palmdale and it stuck because it made everyone laugh.
TW: You've done pretty well on the sticker mission I've noticed (everyone laughs).
HP: Yeah, we've got another big batch soon.
TW: What label would you like to sign with?
HP: All of them, I don't know what's out there, you pick one for us. Maybe Epitaph. We need a party bus, so we don't have to drive hammered after we play.
TW: What CD's are in your CD player?
Vern: Rancid, NoFx, Bad Religion.
John: Israel Vibration, Bad Religion, a little Steel Pulse, a little Maiden (laughs), ya know...
Shouts Out: Everyone who comes to our shows.
Upcoming Shows: We're playing with Taylor Hawkins new band, Chevy Metal. We're playing the Laguna Brewing Company on the 26th
