"Influenced by the French Impressionists and long time friend and successful Impressionist Painter Maria Bertran, Vanessa takes the essence of a subject and captures its charm on canvas with the use of color, shadows, and light. The natural simplicity of her work, her thick energetic brush strokes and pleasing color combinations form a vibrant, impressionistic style. Painting plein air landscapes, live subjects, still life's in her studio in Laguna Beach and traveling to Provence and Tuscany each year, the artist combines her impressionistic influences with her artistic talent to create pleasing fresh works of oil on canvas."

Bio
Vanessa Françoise Rothe grew up as a young artist in Laguna Beach, excelled in art classes at Laguna Beach High School, received scholarships for painting and ceramics from the Festival of Arts and The Sawdust Festival. In 1989 she went on to study Art, Business/Marketing, French and Graphic Design at University of San Diego (USD) and at UCI. In 1992 Vanessa moved to Europe for 5 years to take art classes, study design. Here she became a successful and well seasoned Graphic Designer in Switzerland. Summers •From 1992-2001 Travels to Provence France to paint plein air oil landscape with friend/mentor and professional painter Maria Bertran. In 1996 With this experience, she returned to Laguna to become Junior Art Director and Graphic Designer at Walter Foster Publishing, the leader in art instructional products. In 1998 She was a free-lanced for Disney Press - Art directing, designing books and creating new products. In 1999-2002 Started own business as Graphic designer in Laguna Beach. She is currently painting under Mentor Michael Obermeyer and taking workshops with Ray Roberts. as well as working as Free-lance Graphic designer, Plein Air Oil Painter, and attending the Laguna College of Art and Design for further figure studies.
