The Word on Wazzi

After the breakup of Undermined, the lead singer Ollie Zapeta needed to mourn the loss of his brother Alex, sax player for Undermined.  Wazzi was formed and they produced the epitaph "Out in the Cold" a beautiful and haunting memorial to the memory of Alex.

Wazzi, which means "Spirit of the North Wind" in Sioux, was the name of Ollie and Alex's dog.  The group formed last January with Fred Marudo on drums, John on bass, and Mica on guitar.  Wazzi has a real tight sound - Almost Van Halen-like in its structure, along with Ollie's voice.  Their influences are Iggy Pop, AC/DC and The Ramones.  Look for Wazzi's CD, out January 1 at all our usual hangs.
